Streamyx Carnival

Streamyx, Malaysia's top internet service provider hosted its carnival in Kuching's The Spring shopping mall earlier today.

If you hopped those kids were there to draft out better plans for improved internet connection - it was just a color contest.

Move along now.

PSP 3000 officially not a rumor!

Apparently inevitable, those new psp spy shots that surfaced weeks ago were actually - true!

Sony has officially announced the new PSP-3000 at Leipzig Games Convention. This time around, PSP Brite will feature brighter lcd with halved response time and comes with a built-in microphone in the disappointingly all-too-familiar shell we thought would change.

Now, begin chanting this mantra - 'I will not buy another PSP' repeatedly before and after going to sleep and we'll all be safe happily ever after.

Xbox gets nailed

If you've always thought your parents were a little over the edge when it comes to enforcing child discipline - think again!

Some funky dad actually nailed the original Xbox unto the tree in his backyard after having repeatedly warned his 3 boys about their behavior while playing the console.

That really puts the final nail in Microsoft's old forgotten coffin. Ouch.

Toy exhibition begins in The Spring

Spotted an illegal Star Wars gathering in Kuching's The Spring mall, part of the one week toy exhibition.

Now, can someone please tell Anakin he dropped his lightsaber? And for god's sake - whoever arranged them, better stop skipping your Jedi history classes in planet Naboo because Han Solo doesn't even exist during this time line!

Open source now protected by Law

If you've always been a victim of scandalous code alteration by some lame dude who messes it all up after your laborious effort geared for public collaboration, we've got good news :

US federal appeals court has ruled a new open source code protection under copyright law, even when it's been given for free. One will now be considered a license infringer if the modification they did was not attributed to the original author.

This is a very welcoming change indeed and would surely encourage more open community creations. Waiter, one more freebie please!

Confused turtles ended up in Italian restaurant

About 60 Italian turtles ended up marching right into an Italian restaurant, startling diners near the beach side.

"..they were probably thrown off track and lured by the eatery's bright lights"; said Antonio Colucci, who is part of the conservation workers.

Fortunately, none of them turned into turtle soup though it was very tempting. Si.

Pixar's Wall-E actually rocks!

From the makers of Finding Nemo, Pixar's giving us a treat with this amazingly animated science fiction movie - Wall-E.

It follows a tale of a waste collecting robot (Wall-E) in an abandoned earth, inadvertently embarking on a journey into space that will soon decide the fate of mankind.

Love, action, comedy. It's all in there. Pixar still hasn't lost its touch.

Highly recommended!

Avril Lavigne deemed too sexy for Malaysia's Islamists

Malaysia's PAS youth chief Kamarulzaman Mohamed went all out urging the government to scrap Lavigne's stage concert because her moves were apparently too sexy.

The young rock singer had earlier planned a musical performance in Kuala Lumpur on August 29 as part of her month long Asia tour.

Seriously Lavigne, maybe it's time to use that old pair of rain boots and slip into those granny pants you've always put aside - just for ol' fans' sake!

Around 800,000 trained Chinese students shown up as part of the cheering crowd to keep up the Olympics' atmosphere.

The reward? each of them received a low cost entrance ticket made in china.

Sony Ericsson T700 strikes!

Remember that old trusty T610 five years back? You know, one of the first 0.1 megapixel camera phone with superb 65k colored screen?

Well, Sony Ericsson announced T700; the successor sporting a 10mm thin body, 3.2 megapixel camera featuring quad band with HSDPA, UMTS and EDGE, all in one sleek, metallic body.

Unlike its predecessor, T700 fails to impress the crowd as an all-rounder phone since its features are really nothing new compared to those already in the market. In fact, its lackluster camera doesn't even come equipped with Auto Focus, and no hoping on Xenon flash either.

At a time when Sony Ericsson is really hitting it low, is this the best they can do?

Scientists getting close to invisibility

If you've ever dreamed about how cool it is to be snooping around in Harry's cloak, science has made it possible.

Scientists at Hogwarts University of California, Berkeley has found a way to to deflect lights around three dimensional objects through the use of "metamaterials"; a series of teflon and fiber.

These materials bend visible lights so they don't create reflections or shadows, rendering it invisible to the eyes.

Oh snap, looks like Harry's getting a contender after all.

World's first biodegradable corn

Not contented with recyclable products, Hong Kong based Hoshino is going green by constructing thumb drives made out of Polylactic acid (PLA), derived from corn starch thus making it biodegradable.

Unlike your usual corn though, it needs to be blasted with heat for ten whole days at its own specialized facility to break its particles down.

Heck, even popping corns are conveniently more biodegradable by swallowing it.

As the last torchbearer lit the temple's cauldron in Beijing, 2008 Summer Olympic Games officially opens.

The relay, themed "Journey of Harmony" traveled all the way from Greece with an outstanding number of 20 thousand torchbearers as they journeyed across continents.

This also marks an attitude change in China, who now promises open media access during the games; but heck, just in case, you might wanna check out these 'freedom sticks' if you're in Beijing!

Introducing, the world's largest toilet

Well not really. But it's that close.

South Korean sanitation activists plans to launch the global toilet association not with ribbons but by lifting the lid of the lavatory-shaped house.

Boasting a 4.5k square foot spacious structure, it comes with four deluxe toilets; one of them being equipped with motion sensors that lifts and lowers the lid when needed.

Righttttt. I'm wondering how it smells inside.

A future powered by kites?

Not resting on their laurels, Dutch scientists have created a better way to play your kites - by electrifying it.

Scientists from Delft University managed to generate at least 10 kilowatts of juice, good enough to power 10 houses by using kites.

Fooh, and just when we thought kites were for kids.

Yawning more after lunch hours?

Some actually took the liberty to notice humans yawning more after a good meal of lunch. Perhaps it has something to do with the falling office etiquette?

Interestingly though, if you put something cold on your forehead, you'll be able to refrain from yawning.

If that doesn't work, try sleeping.

Good bye to dearest K800

A moment of silence.

In the very last moments of K800, her heart pumped feverishly in white, and finally gave out her last breath as she switches off. She now leaves behind 3 children.

Gee, what ever happened to quality assurance?

Tired of the mess you're in right now? Life sucks? Always hoping for something astronomical to happen?

Well apparently Dennis Hope, a U.S entrepreneur and founder of Lunar Embassy, is selling you parts of the moon. In fact, this guy thinks he owns most of the solar system.

Situated just 1.3 light seconds away from earth, you get to buy all the space you need in a secluded, quiet and peaceful land.

Here's the catch - the package gives no water, no air and a blazing heat of 225 degrees in daytime.

Fortunately, it comes free of dreaded greenhouse effect.

How much are you willing to spend getting a hairdo?

There seems to be a great difference among both sexes when it comes to the amount of money one is willing to fork - just to get that cool look you've always wanted.

Okay, here's a bet;
10 bucks says you won't end up like her. Grrrr.

These small sized soup dumplings, steamed in bamboo baskets, were originated from eastern China.

Placing gelatin meat inside the translucent buns prior to steaming, it creates a sensational effect of soup bursting into your mouth as you chew.

Fortunately, you don't have to fly all the way to Shanghai as it is easy to scout for in all dim sum eateries of Malaysia. One being, the Shanghai Renjei Cafe at Jalan Keretapi, Sarawak, Kuching.

The falling office etiquette

Would stopping all communication media that created Internet in the very first place be a desirable office etiquette?

Now if they had an arm, the legion of proxy servers would put up pitchforks demanding for a pay raise! Oh no.

Boom of Netbooks

Netbooks have been taking headlines since the launch of Asus' diminutive EEE a year back; redefining the way we value ultra portable computers.

Since then, top brands MSI, HP, Dell, Acer and even recently announced, Lenovo; are wrestling out to get a chunk of this juicy meat from what seems to be a lucrative business in these small, functional and affordable 8" to 10" netbooks.

The problem is...are these really usable for long term or are they just short term fads that sprung traps both manufacturers and consumers are falling into?
